Arun Jaitley’s counter to Congress

The Congress president, Rahul Gandhi had earlier announced a minimum income guarantee scheme which will, supposedly provide Rs. 72,000 a year to 20% of the poorest families in India. The goal being that the income of the even poorest families should not be less than 12,000Rs a month.

Arun Jaitley, the finance Minister of India said in counter, that under Narendra Modi the countries poor were already getting 1.5X the amount promised by Gandhi. He called this promise as a “bluff announcement”. He also said that the party had an old habit to give false announcements and to gain voters.”They also promised a farm loan of Rd 70,000 crore in 2008, but gave away only Rs 52,000 crore. A Comptroller and Auditor General report later found that a Delhi businessman ended up getting most of the money.” He explained. Rahul Gandhi is said to brief the media about this scheme today.
