A recent explosion in Srinagar damaged a car which hit the rear of a CRPF bus carrying personnel. This incident took place in the Banihal stretch on Srinagar-Jammu highway on Saturday at 10:30 am. According to the police, the car driver either fled or was rushed to a hospital. An investigation was carried out by the National Investigation Agency and initial investigations suggested a cylinder blast.
The bus was damaged partially but no injuries were reported. According to a police officer, the cause of explosion seems to be a gas cylinder inside the car. The NIA experts are trying to ascertain the nature of blast NOT ruling out a terror attack. The driver’s disappearance is making the case suspicious and efforts are being made to trace him. A team from HYUNDAI MOTORS visited the site and based on the details, identified the owner of the car. The registration date of the car is February 21,2011.
Coming exactly 45 days after the Pulwama terror attack, this incident has triggered panic among the people. As a safety measure, all traffic was stopped for some hours after the attack.
