China’s Booming Womenomics

China has seen a huge surge in economic spending by women, led by the younger of the lot. Estimates suggest that spending by women has increased 81% in last 5 years to around $670 bn. Though China has lesser women in its population than men, women account for 55% of online sales. According to a report, around 35% of Chinese retail sales are online which is amongst the highest in the world . Most of the online retail shopping campaigns are targeted at women. Though many think this is a trap, the young women seem to be enjoying their spending power.
