Reconstructing Odisha

After cyclone Fani left behind a wave of destruction, the Odisha government has estimated that the cost of restoring housing and infrastructure is around $14 billion. The cyclone affected almost 14 million people while 35 lost their lives. On the plus side, around 1.39 million people have been evacuated to safe shelters. The state government has also set up 15000 kitchens to feed 2.6 million people. The Prime Minister announced an aid of ₹10 billion. The UN has praised India and acknowledged it’s efforts in trying to minimise the impact of this disaster.
