The cyclone Fani has been the longest-lived cyclone arising from the Bay of Bengal ever observed. It has severely affected Odisha, and its government has issued a notice to the NHRC (National Human Rights Commission) that the relief material “has not been reaching” the severely affected regions of Bhubaneshwar and Puri district.
Forty-one people have reportedly died from extreme and perilous cyclonic conditions, and in all about 1.5 crore civilians from 14 districts have been affected.
Many NGOs are distributing food and relief material to aid the affected. Shelter homes have been set up by the state government and cooked food is being provided.( See article: https://owlett.in/2019/05/07/reconstructing-odisha/ for more)
