Lilium is a German startup that has seemed to achieve the unbelievable. They have invented, in simple words, the worlds first ever “flying taxi”. This 5-seater vehicle has completed its first flight and will be flying in cities worldwide by 2025.
This aircraft will not be polluting the environment and is said to be five times faster than a car, creating less noise than a motorbike! The Lilium Jet will be ordered through an app and although, the company did not reveal the cost it claimed that it will be “comparable in price” with regular taxi’s. The companies Cheif Commercial Officer stated that this product is aimed at ordinary people and not just well-heeled business travellers.
However, this company does have some tough competition. Uber, partnering with NASA plans to launch a flying taxi network by 2023. Even Boeing and Rolls Royce seem to be developing flying cars. Lilium states that its aircraft are capable of making much longer journeys than the majority of its competitors at 300km/hr.
