Hong Kong has suspended all flights on Monday due to the anti government protests that have been happening for over 2 months now. (What is the cause for these protests? Read- Hong Kong protests). Protesters have been peacefully demonstrating at the airport for the last 4 days. So it’s not clear why the services were halted.
China has likened the actions of protestors to ‘sprouts of terrorism’. This has worried some who think this could allow China to crack down more strongly on the protestors. The last weekend in Hong Kong saw protests across the city and the police using tear gas, rubber bullets and pepper pellets to control them. Many of them were also arrested.
Authorities said flights would be resuming on Tuesday morning at the Hong Kong airport, one of the busiest airports in the world.
