Car Manufacturers take Production holidays

Hyundai is one of India’s largest carmakers. They recently had two new launches( Venue and grand i10 Nios) and received an impressive response. Despite this they declared “production holidays” at their plants in Chennai. Production holidays mean that a company, factory or a plant has shut down or has stopped producing goods temporarily. Hyundai India has announced no production days in all its departments due to bad market conditions and to avoid piling up their inventory. Read more about this issue at “Brakes” on auto sales

They are not the only ones to do this. Maruti, Tata motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, Toyota Kirloskar among others have also taken similar action. The demand for vehicles in general has also gone down. Why do you think this is happening? Tell us in the comments below…
