The Maharashtra State elections took place recently, in which BJP and its allies (NDA- National democratic alliance) came out on top. These elections determine the party from which the chief minister of the state(Maharashtra) would be and also the number of peope from each party in state legislative assembly.
BJP bagged 104 seats but required 144 seats. Shiv Sena won 56 seats and so they joined forces. However, Shiv Sena demands a written contract saying that they will be equal partners, “50-50” and will equally share power. Contrary to this Devendra Fadnavis, the chief minister of Maharashtra said that BJP was the single largest party and a “BJP-led alliance” should form a stable government.
After Diwali, when this power struggle is sorted the leader of the legislature will be decided and an oath ceremony will take place. What should be the first problem that the new government should solve? Tell us in the comments below..
