A Public health emergency has been declared in Delhi, with all public schools shut till Tuesday. The region entered the “severe plus or emergency” category for pollution, with yellow smog coating the city since last week. (Read more at- Dying Breath)
This is not only because of the bursting of crackers in Diwali, but also because of the thousands of farmers burning crop In the neighbouring states of Haryana and Punjab. The CM has advised all schools to minimise outdoor activities and be kept shut till Tuesday.
Bursting of firecrackers and construction work has been banned. If the pollution gets any worse, the government will have to adapt an odd even car ratio, banning entry of trucks along with public transport only to improve the air quality.
