Today, all of Bharat is expected to go through with the Bharat bandh, started by the bank unions. The bank unions consist of banks such as INTUC, AITUC, HMS, etc.
Bharat bandh is basically when people go into strike to protest against something, by refusing to work. Bank chains, work offices, and some schools are participating in the bandh. Public Transport and other such services will also be severely affected. However, the government has asked many offices to discourage their workers from taking part in it and have even allowed them to ‘punish’ such participants by giving them full rights to cut their salary, demote them and even fire them.
More than 25 crore people have said to take part in this activity. This was done to protest the “anti national, anti people’s” approach of the government. In particular, to the increase in petrol and diesel prices and also that the waiver taxes and insurance on crops was not assured by the government.
